Paragon Real Estate - Two Top Real Estate Producers Merge to Create Innovative Agency

-->

Sue Gatchell, REALTOR®, Paragon Real Estate
Jack Scott, Principal Broker, Paragon Real Estate
Tammie Richeson, REALTOR®, Paragon Real Estate
St. George, UT – The Sue Gatchell Group, formerly with ReMax Associates, has bought into Paragon Real Estate as a full partner with REALTOR®’s Jack Scott, (principal broker), and Tammie Richeson. The agency will retain the identity “Paragon Real Estate”, but will soon be represented with an entirely new look and website representing the advancement and innovation of a constant, progressive and growing real estate agency. “We are leaving the past and moving to the future to better assist our customers. I am really excited about this new venture,” stated Gatchell. “This will bring two of the top real estate producing agents in southern Utah together to create a real estate shop with almost 30 agents, who are all working hard to provide the most complete real estate experiences for buyers and sellers.”

Jack Scott and Tammie Richeson founded Paragon Real Estate in October of 2012 and it has grown to 23 agents in less than two years. With the addition of Sue, Scott Gatchell, Shauna Polatis, and Tanner Gatchell from The Gatchell Group, Paragon Real Estate will have nearly 30 agents with plans for continued growth over the next few years. “I’m enthusiastic about what this new venture holds for the future. Coming together will make a substantial impact on the Real Estate business in southern Utah,” stated Richeson.

“Sue Gatchell adds her real estate market knowledge and experience to an already growing agency,” according to Scott. “With over 1,000 transactions to her name, Sue Gatchell is a superior talent in getting the deal done with the best possible results for her clients. Sue has held a REALTOR® license for 18 years in Utah - the past11 years in southern Utah. Buyers, sellers and builders alike prefer her outgoing and engaging personality.”

Gatchell states:  “I’ve worked for a large brokerage for many years, and lately I’ve just had this impression to offer an alternative to agents and our clients. In this new era of the Internet and online marketing, personal service is more important than ever. Also, as the economy persists in squeezing people’s already tight budgets, we’ve got to make sure our clients get represented in a way that’s most favorable to their financial interests while protecting them from undue cost or risk. Similarly, we need to train agents to provide superior service, which in turn helps them maximize their compensation for a job well done on these life-changing and highly personal transactions.”

“As a fellow agent, I respect what Sue has done over the years for the real estate community. Most importantly, however, Sue consistently receives “10’s” on customer satisfaction surveys and boasts a long and growing list of return customers and friends,” remarked Richeson. “On a daily basis, she monitors market activity and meets with buyers, sellers and industry leaders to give her the greatest possible knowledge of local market trends and conditions. The on-going result has been numerous awards as an industry top performer.”

ESTATE PLANNING IN SECOND MARRIAGES - JensenBayles

ESTATE PLANNING IN SECOND MARRIAGES
We all know someone who is in a second marriage and many of us are in a second marriage.  Second marriages can be exciting and fulfilling while at the same time present special planning challenges. A second marriage may include his children, her children, and sometimes our children.  How will the new spouse be provided for in the estate plan?  Can the assets of each spouse be protected for their respective children while still providing for the new spouse? The competing interests are between the children of the first spouse to pass away and the surviving spouse.
Estate planning challenges in second marriages can be solved with a combination of good communication and smart planning.  Creation of a trust is one way to provide for a new spouse after the death of a spouse while preserving the balance of the assets for the deceased spouse’s children.  A couple can also narrow the assets available for a new spouse with a trust by including a provision for a surviving spouse to occupy the residence during the surviving spouse’s lifetime. Upon the death of both spouses the residence is then distributed to the children of the spouse that contributed the residence.  There are many other solutions to planning in second marriages that will provide peace of mind.  An experienced estate planning attorney should be hired to identify the solution that works best for your situation.

Utah law provides a default estate plan applicable to Utah residents in a second marriage with children from a prior marriage who fails to take the time to prepare a customized estate plan.  The default plan is likely not what a person in a second marriage would want or expect.  Generally, Utah’s intestate law provides that the surviving spouse could be entitled to the first $75,000, plus one half of the balance of the deceased spouse’s intestate estate.  The children of the deceased spouse receive the balance of the deceased spouse’s intestate estate.  There are several exceptions in this law so please do not rely upon the summary provided.
