St. George, UT, October 19, 2012 – Dr. Sharon Richens, director of the Richens Eye Center in St. George, announced recently that Rachael S. Jacoby, MD, a retina specialist, has joined Richens Eye Center, where she will provide treatment for retina and vitreous diseases, including retinal detachment, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
Dr. Jacoby received her bachelors degree in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of Arizona in 1999 and earned her MD from Creighton University Medical School in Omaha, Nebraska. She completed an internship and residency in ophthalmology at the Moran Eye Center University of Utah School of Medicine. She then completed a retina fellowship in 2009 at the Moran Eye Center.
Dr. Jacoby’s experience, prior to joining the Richens Eye Center, includes working as a member of the clinical faculty at the VA Medical Center in Salt Lake City and serving as Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, and the Wisconsin Ophthalmology Society. Presently, she is an associate professor at the University of Utah School of Medicine Moran Eye Center.
Commenting on Dr. Jacoby’s appointment, Dr. Sharon Richens, director of the Richens Eye Center, stated, “Dr. Jacoby’s expertise in medical and surgical care of the retina has been a wonderful addition to the practice.
